These pictures show Anthony Lake from the ski slopes above the lake.

Anthony Lake is located approximately 40 miles from Baker City, Or. at an elevation of 7,000 feet. The area is managed by the U.S. Forestry Dept. It has camping areas, picnic facilities, fishing for Rainbow and Brook trout and hiking trails to additional nearby Alpine Lakes. The lake itself is usually only accessable from May through September due to the snow levels. The ski facilities usually open the day after Thanksgiving and stay open through March. The ski lodge is also at the 7,000 foot elevation and the ski lift heads at about 9,000 feet. Pictures alone cannot truly convey the beauty of this area. Anthony Lake must be experienced. A day at Anthony is a treat Summer or Winter.

The river seen in these pictures is the Snake River. An excellent history of this section of the Snake River, i.e. from Farewell Bend, Or. to Lewiston, Idaho can be found in "Snake River of Hells Canyon" by Johnny Carrey,Cort Conley and Ace Barton. This book is available at the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center in Baker City, Or.
